After attending culinary school, earning her AS in Baking & Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales University, Christy was ready to hit the ground running and was on a mission to learn as much as she possibly could in the pastry field. Since then, she has worked at prestigious establishments including the Marco Island Marriott; The Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas; the Stein Erikson Lodge in Park City, UT; Caesars Palace, The Venetian, and Mandalay Bay. She has created edible works of art for top clients including Steel Panther, Zachary Throne, Vinnie Paul, Jennifer Romas, Robin Leach, and Pearl Aday.

Living in Las Vegas has exposed Christy to some of the most talented, hard-working bands out there and as a result, she has had the pleasure of creating edible works of art for many of those musicians, thus making Sin City the perfect home for ROCK sugar. Her talent has even brought requests for her work from Los Angeles.

‘ROCK sugar’ is the brainchild of two passions: good ol’ rock ‘n roll music and over 20 years in the pastry world.

As a child, Christy frequently found herself dusting funnel cakes with powdered sugar alongside her grandmom and grandpop, while “Benny the Bomb” prepared for his next stunt in the background, at Atco Raceway in New Jersey. Many of her summers and weekends were spent at racetracks and fairgrounds serving up warm funnel cakes, thanks to The Pennsylvania Dutch Funnel Cake Company that, in the 70s, was created by her grandfather, mother, and uncle’s own brainchild.

Growing up in an environment where something so simple made people so happy and created lifelong memories, inspired Christy to continue down that path. Sitting her two younger brothers on the kitchen counter to help make chocolate chip cookies and preparing for cake decorating competitions (thanks for supporting my cake decorating classes, Mom!), filled any free time, outside of the funnel cake trailer, that Christy had.
